Under the patronage of Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim, Dean of the College of Science for Women, the Scientific Affairs Division organized a workshop titled “The Impact of Automation Plan Nature on Administrative Workflow.” The workshop was presented by Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, Dr. Yousra Abdul-Sahib, Dr. Safa Sami Abdul-Jabbar, and Ms. Bushra Ali.
The workshop aimed to discuss how automation affects administrative workflow through the use of modern applications and technologies designed to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and improve or replace certain manual and routine processes carried out by administrative staff. The workshop highlighted many advantages and positives that could result from applying automation in the workplace, such as speeding up processes, reducing the time taken to complete daily tasks and data entry, minimizing human errors, improving accuracy, and enhancing strategic decision-making or innovation.
The workshop also addressed some of the negatives, such as the loss of certain traditional administrative jobs, where tasks previously performed by human workers might be replaced by modern automation systems. It also discussed the challenges of training staff to use the new systems, which may require significant time and effort. Additionally, the increased risks related to security and privacy were mentioned, as automated systems could become targets for cyberattacks if not properly secured. The high financial costs and the need for appropriate electronic devices for such systems were also discussed.
It is worth noting that this topic is significant in today’s era, which is witnessing a major shift toward relying on technology in various fields to effectively and sustainably improve administrative workflows.
