Under the sponsorship of Professor Dr. Samira Naji Kazem, Dean of the College of Science for Women, the Continuing Education Unit, in collaboration with the Student Activities Unit, held a training course titled “Physical Fitness and Healthy Nutrition”. The course was presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Najah Baqir Mashkur, Lecturer Dr. Manahil Abdul Jabbar, and Assistant Lecturer Ghufran Aziz Zaid. It was held in the Student Activities Hall and attended by a group of female students from the college on Tuesday, January 28, 2025.

The course began by explaining the importance of engaging in physical activities to achieve physical fitness, in addition to providing mental relaxation and relieving the pressures and responsibilities of life through sports. These activities positively impact both general health and mental well-being.

The lecturers highlighted the importance and benefits of exercise in strengthening the cardiovascular, respiratory, and heart systems, while emphasizing the need to follow a healthy diet rich in beneficial nutrients suited to one’s age and physical health. The importance of conducting comprehensive health checkups and consulting with a doctor was also emphasized to ensure that a specific diet can be followed in conjunction with a regular exercise program, ultimately achieving the desired physical fitness results.

During the training course, practical exercises were demonstrated to encourage students to adopt physical activity as part of their lifestyle. “A sound mind in a sound body” is the core message, and the decision to take care of one’s general health is of utmost importance. Organizing such activities for students encourages them to commit to sports and enjoy good health, which positively impacts their academic performance, increases their energy and vitality, and helps them avoid illnesses and health problems.
