Under the sponsorship of Professor Dr. Samira Naji Kazem, Dean of the College of Science for Women, the Department of Physics, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit, organized a scientific workshop titled “Physical and Electrical Therapy Using the EMS Electric Massager”. The workshop was presented by Assoc. Prof. Ashwaq Tariq and Assoc. Prof. Atheer Qassem Mriyoush.
The workshop aimed to shed light on the technique of physical therapy, which is a set of therapeutic methods aimed at improving body movement, strengthening muscles, relieving pain, and promoting healing after injuries or surgeries. Physical therapy utilizes various tools and techniques, such as therapeutic exercises to improve strength, flexibility, balance, and motor functions, heat and cold therapy to alleviate muscle spasms or to dilate blood vessels, and reduce inflammation and pain after acute injuries. Additionally, electrical stimulation (EMS) is used to improve muscle functions and relieve pain, while ultrasound therapy is employed to stimulate deep tissues and enhance blood circulation, helping in the healing of injured tissues.
At the conclusion, the workshop emphasized that physical therapy has become an effective method for treating various conditions, such as back pain, muscle, and joint injuries. Each patient requires a personalized treatment plan based on their health condition and the recommendations of the therapist.
