Under the sponsorship of Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim, Dean of the College of Science for Women, the Continuing Education Unit, in collaboration with the Department of Computer Science, organized a workshop on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance the quality of scientific research at the university. The workshop was presented by Dr. Yousra Abdul-Sahib Saif Al-Din, Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs and Students, Dr. Safa Sami Abdul-Jabbar, Head of the Rehabilitation and Employment Unit, and Ms. Bushra Ali Mahmoud from the Office of the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs. It took place on Thursday, January 2nd, in the Conference Hall, and was attended by a number of faculty members and staff of the college.

The workshop began with an introduction to scientific research as an organized and systematic process aimed at collecting and interpreting information to advance knowledge in a specific field. The role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in developing software systems capable of performing tasks and making decisions that require human intelligence was then explained. In recent years, AI has become a powerful tool in improving scientific research by analyzing data, reducing errors, increasing the accuracy of results, detecting plagiarism using tools like Turnitin, managing references, and identifying suitable journals for publication.

The workshop included a presentation of several tools and programs used in research, such as IBM Watson for text and data analysis, Google Scholar AI tool for finding relevant research papers, OpenAI GPT for assisting in idea formulation and content writing, and data mining tools like Rapid Miner.
