In the presence of Professor Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim, Dean of the College of Sciences for Women, representing the President of the University of Baghdad, Professor Dr. Bahaa Ibrahim Insaaf, the Center for Strategic and International Studies at the University of Baghdad held its 23rd Annual Scientific Conference under the title “The Strategic Dimensions of Iraq’s Openness to Its Regional Environment,” under the supervision of the center’s director, Associate Professor Dr. As’ad Tarish Abdul-Ridha, with wide participation from academics and politicians from various government institutions.
The conference was opened by Associate Professor Dr. As’ad Tarish Abdul-Ridha, who emphasized the importance of research centers in providing studies that contribute to achieving Iraq’s stability and progress, praising the support of the university president and the efforts of researchers and staff to ensure the success of the conference.
The conference included three main sessions that discussed scientific research focusing on strengthening Iraq’s regional relations in the political, economic, security, and cultural fields.
The conference concluded with several recommendations, the most prominent of which were enhancing cooperation with neighboring countries, improving economic infrastructure, and activating Iraq’s role as a commercial and oil hub in the region.
At the end of the conference, the necessity of investing in regional challenges and turning them into opportunities to enhance Iraq’s future role was emphasized.
