Under the patronage of Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim, Dean of the College of Science for Women, the Department of Media and Governmental Communication, in collaboration with the Continuing Education Unit, organized an awareness workshop titled “Towards a Culture of Integrity: Enhancing Transparency and Combating Financial and Administrative Corruption.” The workshop was presented by the Assistant Dean for Administrative Affairs, Assistant Prof. Dr. Adel Hussein Talib, Assistant Prof. Dr. Salah Khairy Jaber, and Dr. Abbas Hadi Abdul.

The activity aimed to raise awareness about the concept of integrity, which encompasses a set of values and principles that govern the behavior of individuals and institutions. It revolves around transparency and justice in dealing with public funds. Integrity includes adherence to the principles of clarity and honesty in all procedures, which enhances public trust in government institutions and fosters an environment of positive interaction and accountability. It also requires providing citizens with information and data related to public decisions and policies, contributing to their active participation in understanding and evaluating these decisions.
The importance of combating corruption in all its forms was emphasized, such as bribery, embezzlement, theft, extortion, and favoritism. These actions harm the public interest and contribute to the abuse of power for personal gain at the expense of society. These behaviors are in contradiction with the core values of integrity, which aim to ensure a fair distribution of resources and protect the rights of individuals and the community.
In this context, the workshop emphasized the necessity of strengthening monitoring and supervision mechanisms to ensure the fight against corruption in all its forms. The workshop recommended establishing specialized committees to combat corruption and activating the role of these committees in investigating and following up on related cases. It also stressed the importance of enforcing deterrent laws that ensure accountability for individuals and institutions involved in corruption, contributing to reducing its spread and ensuring the rule of law.
