The honor was given to Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs and Students, Dr. Yousra Abdul-Sahib Saif Al-Din, and Editor-in-Chief of Baghdad Science Journal, Prof. Dr. Fikret Majid Hassan, along with Assistant Lecturer Marwa Raad from the Chemistry Department, during the central ceremony held at Baghdad University in the College of Medicine hall. Several other faculty members from various university departments were also honored for their outstanding scientific achievements in publishing original research in journals classified in the Scopus Q1 database, which is among the world’s leading academic repositories.
These research contributions have helped Baghdad University achieve first place locally and 20th place in the Arab region in the Times Higher Education (THE) ranking, marking the highest rank in the history of Iraqi universities. Furthermore, the university is ranked among the top 5% of the most influential Arab universities in the Arab world.
The ceremony also recognized distinguished researchers who contributed to this achievement, awarding them the Baghdad University Excellence Award as a gesture of gratitude for their scientific efforts. The event emphasized the importance of continuing to improve research performance and publishing in reputable academic journals to enhance Baghdad University’s regional and global standing
