Under the patronage of the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim, the College of Science for Women welcomed Dr. Haider Adnan Al-Mahdawi, the representative of the Academics Union at the University of Baghdad, in a visit aimed at enhancing cooperation and integration between the university and the union. The meeting covered various topics related to developing the status of the union and its representation in Iraqi universities, as well as the steps needed to achieve these goals in the future.

During the meeting, a number of important issues regarding the development of higher education in Iraq were discussed, with several discussions held on ways to improve and evaluate university performance, as well as exchanging views on scientific research and both local and international academic journals. The need to reconsider the mechanism for evaluating university professors, especially the evaluation form, was highlighted to ensure the accuracy and objectivity of the results and to establish appropriate criteria for evaluating academic performance.

In this context, the importance of creating a suitable working environment for faculty members was emphasized, one that considers the physical and material effort they exert to elevate the academic level of university students, contributing to the overall improvement of academic performance.

The future plans of the union were also discussed, focusing on strengthening the role of academics in universities and providing the necessary support for them through the development of academic and research programs. These plans aim to align with current challenges and keep pace with global scientific progress. The attendees stressed the importance of the union’s work in voicing the concerns and challenges faced by faculty members in the work environment.
