Under the patronage of Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim, Dean of the College of Science for Women, and in conjunction with Drug Awareness Week and Global Entrepreneurship Week, the Department of Biology Sciences organized a workshop titled:
“Drugs: Types, Risks, and Laboratory Detection Methods.”
The workshop was presented by Assistant Prof. Dr. Rasha Majed Abdul Amir, Assistant Prof. Dr. Shaima Ismail Kazem, and Assistant Prof. Dr. Salah Khairi Jaber, with the aim of raising awareness among female students about the health and social risks associated with drug use.
The workshop covered several key topics, including:
• Types of drugs: natural and synthetic, and their negative effects on individuals and society.
• Prevention and treatment strategies: focusing on the importance of prevention and treatment methods.
• Laboratory detection methods: using modern techniques such as urine, blood, and hair tests, along with an explanation of the testing mechanisms and their role in early detection of drug use.
The workshop was attended by a number of students from various disciplines, and a discussion was opened to exchange views on the importance of awareness and the role of universities in combating the drug phenomenon
