About the Department of Life Sciences

The Chemistry Department was established in 1984 as one of the departments of the College of Education for Girls. In 2002, the College of Education was separated into the College of Education for Girls, which includes the humanities departments, and the College of Science for Girls, which includes the science departments, including the Chemistry Department/morning studies. Evening studies began in 1996. Postgraduate studies began in the department in 1994. The Chemistry Department started the semester system in 2010 for the three grades (first, second and third), after the graduation of two courses, after which the curriculum system will be implemented according to the college plan. In 2011/2012, the department adopted a new strategy to graduate female students in the specializations of environment, biochemistry and polymers, whose curricula are taught in the third and fourth stages.

Mission and Visions

The department seeks to achieve the requirements of quality and university accreditation and provide a supportive and safe environment for students. The department’s mission in achieving these programs is achieved by providing educational opportunities for theoretical classes coupled with integrated scientific laboratories and experiments equipped with modern means and equipment, diagnostic and analysis devices and computers, in addition to research programs and seminars. This mission is implemented through participation and encouragement between the teaching staff and students within the general line of the college’s deanship under the slogan “The best department with the best quality.”

Visions

The department seeks to achieve excellence in the field of teaching chemistry for undergraduate and graduate studies by applying quality and accreditation standards in an atmosphere characterized by independence and stimulating ambition and creativity, which contributes to achieving development in all areas of life.

Department Objectives
  1. Preparing scientifically qualified graduates in the field of chemical analysis and in the field of industry, with high efficiency in skill and experience.
  2. Preparing scientific competencies with higher degrees (Masters and PhD) in various chemistry specializations
  3. Instilling the spirit of knowledge and spreading it through scientific research and trying to find research projects between the department and research institutions.
  4. Working to serve the community through scientific treatment of issues raised by state institutions in both the public and private sectors.
  5. Strengthening the spirit of citizenship and belonging to society and promoting ethical values ​​and principles
  6. Developing the department through openness and keeping pace with developments in the world in a way that serves to increase teaching efficiency and raise the scientific level of female students.
