College of Science for Women at the University of Baghdad discussed the master thesis entitled (Effect of Biosynthesized Zinc Oxide Nanoparticles on Some Efflux Pump Genes in Pseudomonas aeruginosa ) by the student shams Al-shomos khalis khames.
The thesis aims to study how the expression of the efflux pump genes (mexAB-oprM) in MDR P. aeruginosa isolates was influenced by biosynthesized ZnONPs as compared to chemically synthetic ZnO NPs and Vitex agnusleaves extract.
The thesis also include the Examinatione of the synergistic effect of chemically synthesized ZnO nanoparticles, biosynthesized and ZnO nanoparticles made from alcoholic Vitexagnus leaves extract and also Vitex agnus leaves extract with antibiotics used for treating P. aeruginosa.
The most important recommendations which the study has come up with was Preparing new antibiotics combinations with different nanoparticles and plant extracts can be a valuable path for introducing new alternative solutions to variety of hospital-acquired infections.AlsoThe possibility of manufacturing new ointments that contain ZnONPs and Vitex agnus leafe extract which can be used as topical treatment either applied before antibiotic treatment or in combination with antibioticsto treat P. aeruginosa infections.
