The College of Science for Women at the University of Baghdad discussed a master\u2019s thesis entitled \u201cPhysiological and Histological Changes Resulting by Treating Polycystic Ovary Syndrome mice with Leaves of the Common Sage plant (Salvia officinalis L<\/em>.)\u00a0\u00a0 Comparison with the Effects of Metformin and Clomid.\u201d<\/strong>, submitted by the student Athraa Maan Jabar <\/strong>in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science in Biology \/ Zoology, under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Dr. Zainab Kareim KH. AL-Tamimi<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Objectives of the Thesis<\/div><\/span>
[vc_column_text css=””]The current study aimed to evaluate the physiological and histological effects of the ethanolic extract of Salvia officinalis L.<\/em> in female rats induced with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), and to compare its effects with those of Metformin and Clomid.[\/vc_column_text]<\/div><\/div>

Content of the master's thesis<\/div><\/span>
[vc_column_text css=””]The study involved the use of 30 female albino mice, which were randomly divided into five equal groups. The first group was designated as the control group, while polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) was experimentally induced in the remaining four groups. Each treated group then received one of the following interventions: methanolic extract of sage (Salvia officinalis<\/em>), clomid and metformin.[\/vc_column_text]<\/div><\/div>

Master's thesis recommendations<\/div><\/span>
[vc_column_text css=””]The study recommends conducting future clinical research to evaluate the efficacy and safety of sage extract in humans and to investigate its effects on other organs such as the liver and kidneys. It also suggests testing different doses, documenting the plant\u2019s properties, and identifying its active compounds with precision. The results emphasize the importance of toxicity testing and determining the safe dosage, along with recommending the replacement of Letrozole with an alternative compound due to its potential role in inducing PCOS.[\/vc_column_text]<\/div><\/div>
