The workshop was organized by the Continuing Education Unit in collaboration with the department. The workshop was presented by Asst. Prof. Israa Hammoud Ibrahim, Ms. Israa Amer Khdim, and Ms. Miyami Abdul Aalim Abdul Zahra.<br \/>\nThe aim of the workshop was to introduce the participants to the significance of chemistry in our daily lives and its vital role in advancing various fields such as medicine, agriculture, and the environment. The session also addressed the production of life-saving medicines, in addition to industries such as plastics, fertilizers, detergents, and food products on which we rely daily.<br \/>\nThe role of chemistry in the treatment of incurable diseases, such as cancer and autoimmune diseases, was also highlighted, as well as its contribution to improving the quality of life through innovations in medicine and therapy. The speakers also touched upon the importance of chemistry in soil treatment and fertility enhancement, as well as its role in mitigating the impact of climate change by producing environmentally friendly materials.<br \/>\nIn the context of the environment, the discussion included the contribution of chemistry to improving environmental life standards through chemical technologies that assist in wastewater treatment and air purification. The development of renewable energy sources such as solar and wind energy was also discussed, with a focus on the importance of scientific research in finding sustainable chemical solutions to address challenges related to environmental pollution and energy. Furthermore, the technological advancements that have transformed contemporary life, such as electronics and nanoscience, which are fundamentally dependent on chemistry, were reviewed.<br \/>\nThe workshop concluded by emphasizing the need to support scientific research as the cornerstone of progress in industrial, medical, and environmental fields.
