{"id":7628,"date":"2025-03-25T13:11:26","date_gmt":"2025-03-25T10:11:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.csw.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=7628"},"modified":"2025-03-25T13:11:54","modified_gmt":"2025-03-25T10:11:54","slug":"antibacterial-and-anti-biofilm-efficacy-of-biosynthesized-silver-nanoparticles-against-clinical-isolates-of-metallo-beta-lactamase-and-extended-spectrum-beta-lactamase-producing-pseudomonas-aeruginosa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.csw.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=7628","title":{"rendered":"Antibacterial and Anti-biofilm Efficacy of Biosynthesized Silver Nanoparticles against Clinical Isolates of Metallo-Beta-Lactamase and Extended-Spectrum Beta-Lactamase Producing Pseudomonas aeruginosa."},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p>The College of Science for Women at the University of Baghdad discussed a master&#8217;s thesis entitled \u201cAntibacterial and Anti-biofilm Efficacy of Biosynthesized Silver Nanoparticles against Clinical Isolates of Metallo-Beta-Lactamase and Extended-Spectrum Beta-Lactamase Producing <em>Pseudomonas aeruginosa\u201d\u00a0 <\/em>Which was submitted by the student <strong>Marwa Mohammed Safih<\/strong> to obtain a master&#8217;s degree in life sciences\/microbiology, under the supervision of <strong>Dr. Huda Suhail Abid<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The thesis focused on isolating and diagnosing clinical bacterial isolates from Iraqi patients from Baghdad hospitals and evaluated their antibiotic resistance. Also, <em>Berberis vulgaris<\/em> extracts were evaluated for their antibacterial properties against Metallo-Beta-Lactamase and Extended-Spectrum beta-lactamase-producing <em>Pseudomonas aeruginosa<\/em> obtained from clinical sources. The results showed that <em>Berberis vulgaris<\/em> extracts have antibacterial activity against the selected bacterial isolates. The total amount of chemical compounds in this plant was determined using (GC-MS) examination and through the examination, the presence of terpenes and flavonoids was detected.<\/p>\n<p>Involved in the biosynthesis of silver nanoparticles by the green method using <em>Berberis vulgaris<\/em> extract. The characterization of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) was performed through various modern techniques, including X-ray diffraction meter (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), atomic microscopy (AFM), and energy-dispersing X-ray spectrometry (EDX). The antibacterial activity of silver nanoparticles against bacterial isolates was studied, and the results indicated that (AgNPs) show antibacterial activity against <em>P. aeruginosa<\/em>. The inhibitory effect of B. vulgaris extract and AgNPs on the biofilm formation ability of bacterial isolates was also tested by the Microtiter plate assay using Sub-MIC concentration obtained from the antibacterial effect study of <em>B.vulgaris <\/em>extract and AgNPs, the results showed inhibitory efficacy against biofilm virulence factor.<\/p>\n<p>The study recommended the clinical application of biosynthesized silver nanoparticles from the <em>Berberis vulgaris<\/em> extract as an alternative to conventional antibiotics and the possibility of manufacturing ointment from extracts of the <em>B.
