A Novel Combination Therapy for Leishmania spp"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The College of Science for Women at the University of Baghdad examined a master\u2019s thesis entitled <strong>&#8221; Synergistic Antileishmanial Activity of Ag: Se Nanoparticles Synthesized with <em>Plantago lanceolata<\/em>. A Novel Combination Therapy for <em>Leishmania <\/em>spp.&#8221;<\/strong>, presented by the postgraduate student <strong>Zahraa Basheer Jaber <\/strong>as a requirement for the degree of Master of Science in Biology\/Zoology. The study was supervised by <strong>Prof. Dr. Naksheen Merza Mahmood<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0This study aimed to evaluate the synergistic antileishmanial activity of Ag: Se nanoparticles synthesized using <em>Plantago Lanceolate <\/em>and the individual effects of these nanoparticles and the extract. Additionally, the cytotoxicity of these treatments on normal rat embryo fibroblast REF cell lines was assessed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0The results revealed No significant differences were observed across treatments after 1 hour. The concentration of 100% of Ag: Se NPs at 250 g mL-1 had the highest inhibition effect (30.4%) on <em>L. tropica<\/em>. The highest effect was observed at a concentration of 100% for Ag: Se (125, 250) \u03bcg mL-1combined with extract 250 \u03bcg mL-1 after 48 hours of exposure, achieving growth inhibition rates of 59.6 % on <em>L. donovani<\/em>.
