[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]College of Science for Women \/ University of Baghdad examined the thesis (evaluation of the effect of some antimicrobial agents on pathogenic staphylococci isolated from patients with fractures) of the student Zahraa Mohammed Fadhil.<\/p>\n

The thesis aims to investigate the effect of antimicrobial agents on the susceptibility pattern of Staphylococcus<\/em> species.<\/p>\n

The thesis includes a total of 104 clinical samples that were isolated from patients with fractures, and 39 were identified as Staphylococcus<\/em> species by the Vitek2 compact system. In general, (12) isolates belong to S. aureus<\/em>, (8) isolates belong to S. epidermidis<\/em>, (5) S. warneri<\/em>, (4) isolates of S. hominis<\/em>, and S. lentus<\/em>, (3) isolates belong to S. haemolyticus,<\/em> (1) isolate of which S. sciuri<\/em>, S. lugdunensis<\/em>, and S. pseudintermedius.<\/em> Investigate the susceptibility of isolates of Staphylococcus<\/em> species using microtiter dilution assay with nitrofurantoin, colistin, sulbactam, and colistin-sulbactam combination. Examined by quantitive PCR analysis (qPCR) the involvement of nitrofurantoin on the expression level of the msr<\/em>A, mep<\/em>A, qac<\/em>AB, and qac<\/em>C genes, which reveals a remarkable overexpression of qac<\/em>C in S. haemolyticus<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The most important recommendations which the study has come up:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Investigating the impact of combining Colistin with Sulbactam on pathogenic Gram-negative bacteria.<\/li>\n
  2. Further exploring the mechanisms of nitrofurantoin resistance, including the prevalence of genes such as msr<\/em>A, mep<\/em>A, qac<\/em>AB, and qac<\/em>C among the isolated bacterial strains.<\/li>\n
  3. Explore alternative antibiotics or antimicrobial agents that could be effective in combination with Sulbactam or Colistin, particularly for multi-drug resistant strains.<\/li>\n
  4. Studying the potential cytotoxicity or side effects of combining Colistin and Sulbactam in clinical settings.<\/li>\n
  5. Adopting the results of the current study in therapeutic applications against pathogenic bacteria.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
