The College was represented by committee member <strong>Assistant Prof. Dr. Mukhtar Khamis Habba<\/strong>, with the participation of committee member <strong>Assistant Prof. Dr. Fikrat Majeed<\/strong>. The meeting was attended by the President of the University of Baghdad, <strong>Prof. Dr. Alaa Abdul Hassan Al-Zughbi<\/strong>, and chaired by the Technical Advisor to the Ministry of Environment, <strong>Dr. Nadhir Abboud Fazaa<\/strong>, alongside a distinguished group of committee members.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The meeting, held in the <strong>Al-Hurriya Hall at the College of Mass Communication<\/strong>, addressed mechanisms for developing an integrated action plan aimed at conserving biodiversity within the university campus and preserving ecosystems. Discussions also focused on promoting the principles of environmental sustainability and protecting the green spaces and natural resources that distinguish the University of Baghdad.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The participants highlighted the importance of adopting a sustainable institutional vision that would contribute to improving the environmental conditions within the University. They also emphasized the need to activate awareness programs and scientific activities aimed at fostering environmental awareness among students and university personnel, in accordance with the principles and objectives of sustainable development.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In this context, committee member <strong>Assistant Prof. Dr. Mukhtar Khamis Habba<\/strong> presented a number of substantive scientific proposals, including examining the feasibility of designating <strong>Umm Al-Khanazeer Island and the Al-Jadriya area as nature reserves<\/strong>, given their distinctive biological and environmental diversity. He emphasized the importance of utilizing these sites to support scientific research and environmental applications while preserving ecological balance within the city.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He further stressed the need to conduct accurate field surveys to document biodiversity and develop sustainable environmental management plans to protect these areas from encroachments. He also proposed involving students and researchers in applied projects that would contribute to enhancing environmental awareness and promoting sound environmental practices.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">For his part, committee member <strong>Assistant Prof. Dr. Fikrat Majeed<\/strong> delivered an intervention emphasizing the importance of strengthening environmental awareness within the university community by integrating environmental concepts into student activities and academic programs, as well as supporting volunteer initiatives dedicated to environmental conservation. He also stressed the importance of interdisciplinary coordination among various scientific fields to develop sustainable environmental solutions based on sound scientific foundations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The participation of the College of Science for Women in this committee reflects its scientific and research-oriented role in the field of biological sciences, as well as its commitment to actively contributing to environmental initiatives.
