{"id":13617,"date":"2026-05-17T12:52:25","date_gmt":"2026-05-17T09:52:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.csw.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=13617"},"modified":"2026-07-27T13:00:36","modified_gmt":"2026-07-27T10:00:36","slug":"workshop-on-passive-smoking-and-its-health-effects","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.csw.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=13617","title":{"rendered":"Workshop on \u201cPassive Smoking and Its Health Effects\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Science for Women, <strong>Professor Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim<\/strong>, the Continuing Education Unit, in collaboration with the Department of Biology, organized a workshop entitled <strong>\u201cPassive Smoking and Its Health Effects.\u201d<\/strong> The workshop was presented by <strong>Dr. Janan Shawi Zamil<\/strong> and <strong>Dr. Israa Mohsen Jassim<\/strong> as part of the College\u2019s efforts to promote health awareness among its academic community.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The workshop addressed the concept of passive smoking as one of the most significant environmental health hazards affecting human health. It explained that non-smokers may be exposed to secondhand smoke through the inhalation of smoke produced by the burning of tobacco products or exhaled by smokers, resulting in serious adverse health effects. The presenters highlighted the major health risks associated with passive smoking, including an increased likelihood of developing respiratory diseases and cardiovascular disorders.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The workshop also discussed the principal preventive measures for reducing exposure to secondhand smoke. These included raising public awareness, enforcing regulations that prohibit smoking in public places, and promoting healthy behaviors within families and educational institutions to create smoke-free environments.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The workshop concluded by emphasizing the importance of enhancing public health awareness regarding the dangers of passive smoking and its role in protecting communities and reducing the incidence of smoking-related diseases.
