{"id":13439,"date":"2026-05-10T10:38:04","date_gmt":"2026-05-10T07:38:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.csw.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=13439"},"modified":"2026-07-13T10:46:57","modified_gmt":"2026-07-13T07:46:57","slug":"applications-of-next-generation-sequencing-ngs-technologies-presented-in-a-scientific-workshop-organized-by-the-department-of-biology","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.csw.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=13439","title":{"rendered":"Applications of Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) Technologies Presented in a Scientific Workshop Organized by the Department of Biology"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Science for Women, <strong>Professor Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim<\/strong>, the Continuing Education Unit, in collaboration with the Department of Biology, organized a scientific workshop entitled <strong>&#8220;NGS Applications.&#8221;<\/strong> The workshop was presented by<strong>\u00a0Dr. Shaimaa Ismail Kazem<\/strong> and<strong>\u00a0Dr. Sanaa Mohammed Habib<\/strong>, with the participation of a number of faculty members and students.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The workshop introduced <strong>Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS)<\/strong> technologies and explored their major applications in the biological sciences. The presentations examined the role of NGS in genome analysis, the identification of genetic mutations, the diagnosis of inherited and cancer-related diseases, and the detection and surveillance of pathogenic organisms.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In addition, the workshop highlighted the operating principles of modern sequencing platforms and outlined the key steps involved in the analysis of sequencing-derived biological data.
