{"id":13295,"date":"2026-05-10T09:22:09","date_gmt":"2026-05-10T06:22:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.csw.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=13295"},"modified":"2026-07-06T09:36:31","modified_gmt":"2026-07-06T06:36:31","slug":"training-workshop-on-practical-applications-of-thin-films-at-the-college-of-science-for-women","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.csw.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=13295","title":{"rendered":"Training Workshop on Practical Applications of Thin Films at the College of Science for Women"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Unit of Qualification, Employment, and Follow-up, in collaboration with the Department of Physics and under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Science for Women, <strong>Professor Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim<\/strong>, organized a training workshop entitled <strong>&#8220;Practical Applications of Thin Films.&#8221;<\/strong> The workshop was presented by <strong>Ms. Duha Kareem Harfash<\/strong> and <strong>Ms. Shaimaa Ibrahim Mahmoud<\/strong> in the Qualification and Employment Hall, with the attendance of faculty members, administrative staff, and students.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The workshop aimed to introduce the concept of <strong>thin films<\/strong>, which are extremely thin layers of material deposited onto a substrate. Their thickness typically ranges from a few nanometers to several micrometers, enabling them to exhibit distinctive physical and chemical properties that differ significantly from those of the same material in its bulk form.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The presenters also discussed the principal techniques used in thin-film fabrication, including <strong>physical deposition<\/strong> and <strong>chemical deposition<\/strong> methods. They highlighted the role of thin films in modifying and enhancing surface properties, such as electrical conductivity, optical transparency, and corrosion resistance, in addition to improving hardness and reducing friction.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Furthermore, the workshop addressed the major applications of thin-film technology in a variety of scientific and industrial fields. These applications include enhancing light absorption in solar cells, improving the performance of electronic devices and display technologies, providing protective coatings for industrial equipment, and developing sensors and medical devices.
