{"id":12851,"date":"2026-04-22T08:45:13","date_gmt":"2026-04-22T05:45:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.csw.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=12851"},"modified":"2026-06-15T08:53:32","modified_gmt":"2026-06-15T05:53:32","slug":"scientific-workshop-on-the-role-of-biochemistry-in-nutrition-and-public-health-in-collaboration-with-the-department-of-chemistry","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.csw.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=12851","title":{"rendered":"Scientific Workshop on the Role of Biochemistry in Nutrition and Public Health in Collaboration with the Department of Chemistry"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"189\" data-end=\"603\">Under the patronage of the respected Dean of the College of Science for Women, <strong data-start=\"268\" data-end=\"304\">Professor Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim<\/strong>, the Continuing Education Unit, in collaboration with the Department of Chemistry, organized a scientific workshop entitled <strong data-start=\"429\" data-end=\"470\">\u201cBiochemistry in Food and Nutrition.\u201d<\/strong> The workshop was presented by<strong data-start=\"501\" data-end=\"549\">\u00a0Dr. Areej Shawkat Hameed<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"551\" data-end=\"570\">Ms. Sinaa Aboud<\/strong>, and <strong data-start=\"576\" data-end=\"602\">Ms. Hanan Kadhim Talal<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"605\" data-end=\"1118\">The workshop aimed to highlight the vital role of biochemistry in understanding the components of food and their effects on human health. It addressed several key topics, including the chemical composition of essential nutrients such as proteins, carbohydrates, and lipids, as well as the mechanisms through which these nutrients interact within the human body. In addition, the workshop emphasized the importance of vitamins and minerals in supporting physiological functions and maintaining nutritional balance.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1120\" data-end=\"1675\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">Furthermore, the workshop explored the relationship between proper nutrition and public health, as well as the impact of dietary habits on disease prevention. Particular attention was given to the role of biochemistry in explaining the processes of digestion, nutrient absorption, and energy production within the body.
