{"id":12690,"date":"2026-04-19T09:01:39","date_gmt":"2026-04-19T06:01:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.csw.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=12690"},"modified":"2026-06-08T09:10:20","modified_gmt":"2026-06-08T06:10:20","slug":"soil-pollution-environmental-and-health-impacts-and-mitigation-strategies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.csw.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=12690","title":{"rendered":"Soil Pollution: Environmental and Health Impacts and Mitigation Strategies"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"80\" data-end=\"584\">Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Science for Women, <strong data-start=\"159\" data-end=\"195\">Professor Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim<\/strong>, the Continuing Education Unit, in cooperation with the Department of Biology, organized a scientific workshop entitled <strong data-start=\"322\" data-end=\"343\">\u201cSoil Pollution.\u201d<\/strong> The workshop was presented by <strong data-start=\"374\" data-end=\"416\">Dr. Maysoon Hassan<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"418\" data-end=\"470\">\u00a0Dr. Alia Mohammed Abdul Hadi<\/strong>, and <strong data-start=\"476\" data-end=\"515\">Ms. Ruwaida Abdullah<\/strong>, with the participation of a number of faculty members and students.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"586\" data-end=\"940\">The workshop addressed the concept of soil pollution and its major causes, including those resulting from industrial and agricultural activities, as well as the improper disposal of waste. It also reviewed the most significant chemical and biological pollutants that alter soil properties and negatively affect agricultural productivity and human health.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"942\" data-end=\"1344\">Furthermore, the workshop discussed the environmental consequences of soil degradation, such as the loss of soil fertility and the contamination of groundwater resources. A range of modern techniques for the remediation of contaminated soils and the mitigation of soil pollution were presented, with emphasis placed on the importance of promoting environmental awareness among members of the community.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1346\" data-end=\"1639\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">The workshop concluded by underscoring the importance of developing the skills of students and researchers in the fields of environmental and soil protection.
