The College of Science for women at the University of Baghdad discussed the master’s thesis entitled ( Improving \u00a0the Specifications of Iraqi Asphalt Using New Polymer Derived from Thiosemicarbazide with Some Natural and Synthetic Polymers)<\/p>\n

Objectives of the Thesis<\/div><\/span>
[vc_column_text css=””]The objectives of this study are summarized as follows:<\/strong><\/p>\n
    \n
  1. To synthesize novel thiosemicarbazide-derived compounds through Schiff\u2019s Base formation and cyclization reactions using different aldehydes.<\/li>\n
  2. To prepare polymeric systems using natural and synthetic polymers such as PVA, PVP, and poly (acrylic acid) to improve thermal stability and functional properties.<\/li>\n
  3. 3. To characterize the synthesized compounds and polymers using FT-IR, \u00b9H-NMR, TGA, XRD, and SEM techniques.<\/li>\n
  4. To evaluate the effect of the prepared polymers on the physical and thermal properties of Iraqi asphalt and enhance its resistance toward moisture and thermal\/mechanical deformation.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Content of the Thesis<\/div><\/span>
    [vc_column_text css=””]This study, which was conducted at the University of Baghdad \/ College of Science for Women \/ Department of Chemistry and Analytical characterization was carried out using FT-IR, \u00b9H-NMR, TGA, XRD, and SEM techniques at several research centers including BPC Analysis Center, Photon Center, the Center for Industrial Applications and Materials Technology in Iraq, and Taban Laboratory in Iran for TGA analysis. The prepared polymers were also applied to Iraqi petroleum asphalt, and their effects on penetration, density, flash point, and water content were evaluated.[\/vc_column_text]<\/div><\/div>
    <\/i>
    Thesis recommendations<\/div><\/span>
    [vc_column_text css=””]The most important recommendations which the study has come up with and the average obtained<\/strong>:<\/p>\n
      \n
    1. Successful synthesis of novel thiosemicarbazide-derived compounds and polymers with good thermal stability and functional properties.<\/li>\n
    2. FT-IR, \u00b9H-NMR, TGA, XRD, and SEM analyses confirmed the successful formation and structural modification of the prepared compounds.<\/li>\n
    3. The synthesized polymeric additives showed good efficiency in improving the physical and thermal properties of Iraqi asphalt.<\/li>\n
    4. The polymeric additives enhanced asphalt resistance toward moisture damage and deformation under harsh climatic and traffic conditions, making them promising local asphalt modifiers.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
