The Continuing Education Unit, in collaboration with the Department of Chemistry, held the workshop, which was presented by Dr. Faihaa Miqdad Khalil and Dr. Kadhim Khudhair Ghudayb, in the presence of a number of faculty members and female students.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"_aupe copyable-text x15bjb6t x1n2onr6\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"_aupe copyable-text xkrh14z\">The workshop presented a comprehensive scientific explanation of glucose as a simple sugar and the primary source of energy in the human body. It is obtained from food, particularly carbohydrates, then absorbed into the bloodstream and transported to cells.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"_aupe copyable-text x15bjb6t x1n2onr6\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"_aupe copyable-text xkrh14z\">The workshop also clarified the vital role of the hormone insulin in regulating blood glucose levels by facilitating its entry into cells for energy production. In addition, it explained the mechanism of storing excess glucose in the form of glycogen in the liver and muscles for later use when needed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"_aupe copyable-text x15bjb6t x1n2onr6\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"_aupe copyable-text xkrh14z\">Furthermore, the workshop addressed the biochemical and cellular basis of insulin resistance, explaining how it occurs as a result of reduced cellular responsiveness to insulin.
