The course was presented by Dr. Basuad Maher Muhail and Dr. Asmaa Mahdi Saleh. It was held in Abdul Hakim Hall and attended by a number of faculty members, staff, and female students of the college.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"_aupe copyable-text x15bjb6t x1n2onr6\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"_aupe copyable-text xkrh14z\">The course aimed to introduce the fundamentals of the English language and to highlight the essential skills required to improve proficiency, while outlining key strategies that contribute to enhancing learners\u2019 cognitive and linguistic competence.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"_aupe copyable-text x15bjb6t x1n2onr6\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"_aupe copyable-text xkrh14z\">The lecturers emphasized the importance of mastering grammatical rules alongside developing listening and pronunciation skills. They also stressed the necessity of consistent practice in reading and writing, noting that engaging in spoken communication in English significantly helps learners overcome hesitation and build confidence.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"_aupe copyable-text x15bjb6t x1n2onr6\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"_aupe copyable-text xkrh14z\">The course included a presentation of several important aspects of English usage, such as commonly repeated expressions, word suffixes, and compound words with varying forms. It also addressed collocations\u2014words that frequently occur together in natural usage (e.g., make a decision)\u2014and idioms, which are expressions whose meanings cannot be understood through literal translation (e.g., to be in hot water, meaning to be in trouble).<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"_aupe copyable-text x15bjb6t x1n2onr6\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"_aupe copyable-text xkrh14z\">Furthermore, the course highlighted the importance of reading beginner-level books and stories to strengthen reading skills, as well as listening to English-language radio stations and YouTube channels.
