Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Science for Women, Professor Dr. Samira Naji Kazem, the Scientific Affairs Division, in cooperation with the Department of Chemistry, organized a workshop entitled \u201cChemistry and Medicine: From Natural Compounds to Drugs.\u201d<\/strong> The workshop was delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Nafisa Jabbar Kazem and Assistant Lecturer Ruqayya Hashim Abdul Ghani. It was held in the college guest hall with the attendance of faculty members, staff, and female students of the department.<\/p>\n

The workshop aimed to highlight the role of chemistry in the discovery and development of medicines, starting from natural sources such as plants and microorganisms to the design of synthetic pharmaceutical compounds.<\/p>\n

The workshop discussed the stages of isolating active compounds, structural analysis, studying their biological activity, and chemically optimizing them to enhance effectiveness and reduce toxicity. It also explained the steps required to transform a compound into an approved drug through laboratory and clinical testing.<\/p>\n

The lecturers emphasized that the goal is to link chemical concepts with modern medical and pharmaceutical applications.<\/p>\n

The workshop received positive feedback from attendees, with noticeable engagement through questions and discussions.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
