The College of Science for women at the University of Baghdad discussed the Doctor of Philosophy dissertation entitled (Estimating the Levels of Galectin-3, Matrix Metalloproteinase-3, Soluble form of Toll-like Receptor-2 and other Related Factors in Iraqi Patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis).<\/p>\n

Objectives of the Dissertation<\/div><\/span>
[vc_column_text css=””]The dissertation aimed to investigate the diagnostic and predictive properties of the parameters Galatin-3, Matrix metalloproteinase-3, soluble Toll-Like Receptor-2, Malonaldehyde, and Protein carbonyl in RA disease through evaluation of these parameters in sera of 92 RA Iraqi patients and 38 age-matched apparently healthy group using ELISA assay. The traditional clinical laboratory tests ESR, CRP, RF, and ACPA were also assessed.[\/vc_column_text]<\/div><\/div>

Content of the Dissertation<\/div><\/span>
[vc_column_text css=””]This study, which was conducted at the University of Baghdad \/ College of Science for Women \/ Department of Chemistry and the outpatient clinic of Baghdad Teaching Hospital between November 2023 and March 2024. The samples were collected and the clinical laboratory tests ESR, CRP, RF, and ACPA were assessed according to their manufacture kits assay. The studied parameters were evaluated using ELISA assay.[\/vc_column_text]<\/div><\/div>

Dissertation Recommendations<\/div><\/span>
[vc_column_text css=””]The most important recommendations reached by the dissertation are:<\/p>\n
    \n
  1. Measuring the levels of Gal-3, MMP-3, and sTLR-2 in the synovial fluid of Iraqi patients with RA.<\/li>\n
  2. Measuring the mentioned parameters in the newly diagnosed patients with RA and large sample of drug-na\u00efve patients.<\/li>\n
  3. Measuring those parameters in healthy people with a family history of RA disease to predict the appearance of those biomolecules in healthy serum before the RA disease infection.<\/li>\n
  4. More investigations are required to study the effect of different DMARDs on the serum, plasma, or SF levels of Gal-3, MMP-3, sTLR-2, MDA, and PC.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
