The master’s thesis, ” Preparation and Indentification of New Polymeric Pharmaceutical Derivatives of Polyvinylpyrrolidine and Studying Their Pharmaceutical Application,” was the topic of discussion at the College of Science for Girls at the University of Baghdad.

Student: Zahraa Mokhtar Murakab

The thesis’s goal is to synthesize different drug polymers in different ways using many prepared polymers such as Polyvinylpyrrolidine, and condensed

polymers containing known bioactive units such as antibiotic materials, amino acid and nontoxic polymers.

The study was done at the University of Baghdad’s College of Science for Women’s Chemistry Department in the laboratories of the College of Science for Women’s. preparation of different Pharmaceutical derivatives of Polyvinylpyrrolidone. The prepared compounds were characterized using Infrared spectroscopy(FTIR), and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (HNMR). The thermal stability of some of the prepared compounds was studied using a differential calorimetry device (TGA), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Xray Diffraction (XRD), and the biological effectiveness of some compounds were studied using different types of bacteria (Positive + Gram and negative – Gram bacteria ) and some types of fungi. Then Molecular Docking was studied.

The letter makes the following key recommendations:

  1. Synthesis of a new derivative of Polyvinylpyrrolidone with polyvinyl alcohol(PVA), then studying degradation in different medium using as carriers with different drugs and studying release in acid and base medium..
  2. Synthesis of new compounds by combining the new derivative of Polyvinylpyrrolidone with the new Schiff bases of chitosan and studying itsbiological activity as (anti-cancer). The student achieved an excellent grade.
